Spencer Treasures

When little Spencer Stockton was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, mom and dad would reward him after every procedure with a small toy. After his death in 2000, his mom gifted Spencers favorite Drs office with a treasure box, in honor of Spencer, to spread the joy of a simple toy. When we see the children in their post op visits, once they leave the room, we always welcome them to go to the treasure chest and pick something out that they like. Over the years, the Stocktons have placed more than 20 treasure boxes in CHOC and St Josephs clinics. Once a month, we deliver about 1500 toys to children in hospitals that are usually undergoing invasive procedures or Drs appointments so to kind of give them a reward for doing a job well done. To fill all of the treasure boxes each month, individual and corporate donations are accepted all year long. All toys must be new, to keep away germs Unopened kids- meal toys Match box/Hot wheels Beanie Babies Small books or dolls Playing cards or sports cards Any other toy that can fit in a small childs hand The greatest experience is when they have a lot of tears from anything we have to do post op and then suddenly, theyre just smiling and they feel much better after. Spencers Treasure dot org has been set-up with ways to donate and several ideas for ways to support the organization other than financially. Putting a smile on a sick childs face through Spencers Treasure is one way to give back but there are many ways in Orange County ...
